Meet the Staff of BREAKAWAY
Jeff and Christa founded BREAKAWAY with a vision to create a gym where clients workout like athletes in a fun comfortable environment. At BREAKAWAY there are no gimmicks or fancy diets, instead you are faced with serious workouts from a team who really know their stuff.
Co-owner/Personal Trainer/Cycling Instructor
While at the University of Illinois Jeff was a two time ALL American in Track and Field and earned four Big Ten Championships as a shot putter. After college he trained at the Olympic Training Center, for the 1996 Olympics. Jeff made it to the trials, but a shoulder injury prevented him from making the team. Since then he directed his career towards Personal Training as a strength and conditioning coach at George Mason University with a major focus on injury prevention and recovery. Still very competitive he cycles as a Category 3 road racer, and NORBA Sport Level/Clydesdale Mountain Bike Racer.
He is known as a silent but scary trainer. NEVER make the mistake of telling Jeff a workout was easy.
On his days off you'll find him with Christa and their son Gordan. He loves camping or looking for serenity in a fly-fishing rod.
Co-owner/Personal Trainer
Christa was a two sport division I scholarship athlete in Women's Fast-pitch Softball and Women's Volleyball at George Mason University. After graduating she played with the Connecticut Brakettes, a prestigious Women Majors fast-pitch team.
In August 2002 Christa made the Greek National Softball Team which won GOLD at the 2003 European Championships B-Pool. In 2004 she was selected to be an alternate and assistant coach for the team at the OLYMPIC SUMMER GAMES in Athens, Greece. In 2005 she helped the team win an A Pool Silver at the European Championships.
In the gym Christa is known for her sarcasm and her ability to 'Christa' people. To be Christa'd is to suddenly find yourself doing something you had no intention of doing. Not a bad trick for a trainer!
Christa enjoys spending her time off with Jeff and their son Gordon. She loves anything to do with being out doors.
